The pressing program holds peak force for 26 seconds to ensure complete air evacuation. Automatic stepped decompression precedes part extraction, safeguarding component geometry against tensile cracking.

Material behaviour under compaction

Optimized for cold preforming of thermoset compounds (SMC/BMC/bakelite) & friction mix powders, the machine structure accommodates bulk volume reduction ratios between 3.2:1 and 4.2:1 with ample die fill daylight. Platen deflection is constrained under 0.04 mm/m under peak load, ensuring uniform green density distribution across both thick and thin wall sections before thermal sintering.

Tooling and die design

The press table is engineered for rapid die clamping with reinforced bolster plates. In-house manufactured punch and die sets for SMC/BMC compression-moulded composite panels utilize through-hardened tool steel with micro-honed surfaces to eliminate wall drag during ejection.
