PTFE Diaphragm — Material Specifications, Engineering Data & OEM Supply
PTFE Diaphragm by HEMSUN is manufactured in Gujarat, India, delivering high-reliability performance in aggressive fluid handling and chemical environments. Formulated from premium PTFE fluoropolymer to provide low friction, high dielectric strength, and precise drawing tolerances.
Where PTFE Diaphragm is used
Flexible barrier separating process media from the drive side of a pump or actuator, flexing millions of cycles without leaking.
PTFE suits diaphragms because it flexes without hardening in contact with solvents and acids that would embrittle an elastomer.
Supplied to drawing across the published range — Diameter range: 25mm to 600mm; Material: Virgin PTFE / Filled PTFE / Food Grade PTFE — with dimensional and material reports on request.

Manufacturing process
At our Gujarat works, PTFE Diaphragm is fabricated through specialized powder compression moulding and thermal sintering cycles. Virgin or filled PTFE fluoropolymer powder is volumetrically charged into hardened tool steel dies, compacted under 300–420 kg/cm² force, and sintered for one hour per 25 mm of wall thickness to guarantee homogeneous matrix density.
Material selection notes
Material properties for PTFE Diaphragm (PTFE fluoropolymer): Total chemical inertness across pH 0–14, continuous thermal resistance from -200°C to +260°C (-328°F to +500°F), and an ultra-low dynamic coefficient of friction (0.05 to 0.10). For heavy-duty mechanical service, we offer filled formulations with glass fiber (15–25%), carbon graphite (15–33%), or bronze powder (40–60%) to resist compressive creep and abrasive wear.
How to specify your order
Selecting PTFE Diaphragm for OEM manufacturing: Provide part 2D drawings, resin filler preference, and target monthly consumption. We calculate tooling requirements, unit pricing, and dispatch timelines for domestic and export delivery.
Quality checks and inspection
Quality verification on PTFE Diaphragm covers 100% critical dimension checks, dye-penetrant porosity screening, surface texture measurements, and batch traceability documentation provided with each export dispatch.
Ordering and export documentation
Domestic PTFE Diaphragm orders ship with GST invoice and e-way bill where applicable. Export orders include commercial invoice, packing list, and certificate of origin from our IEC-registered works. Air and sea freight packing with desiccant and shock protection for international buyers Contact info@hemsun.com or sales@hemsun.com with your diaphragms specification.
Export packing and lead time
HEMSUN ENGG. INDUSTRIES manufactures PTFE Diaphragm in Gujarat, India, and exports directly to OEMs and industrial distributors in North America, Europe, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and Africa. Shipments include complete mill test reports (MTR), certificates of compliance, IEC shipping bills, and export-grade protective barrier packaging inside heavy-duty cartons or seaworthy wooden boxes.
Storage and handling
Storage, installation, and operating recommendations for PTFE Diaphragm: Store in clean, temperature-controlled dry storage away from direct UV exposure and particulate contamination. When installing in valve bodies or pump housings, ensure mating surfaces are free of sharp burrs to avoid seal lip damage.
Compliance & Standards
HEMSUN is a DGFT IEC registered exporter (Government of India). Sealing faces are inspected for flatness and finish, thickness verified on calibrated gauges, and sintered density checked per ASTM D792. A mill test certificate ships with the order. Export paperwork — commercial invoice, packing list and certificate of origin — accompanies international despatch.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between a Pump PTFE Diaphragm and a Valve PTFE Diaphragm?
Pump PTFE Diaphragms are designed for high-frequency flex cycles in AODD, metering, and dosing pumps — typically flat or thermoformed. Valve PTFE Diaphragms are molded to a specific three-dimensional profile to fit weir-type or straightway diaphragm valve bodies — providing bubble-tight shut-off in diaphragm valves.
What is a Reinforced PTFE Diaphragm?
A Reinforced PTFE Diaphragm has a PTFE face bonded to a rubber backing (typically EPDM, Neoprene, or Viton). The PTFE face contacts the process fluid providing complete chemical resistance, while the rubber backing provides mechanical resilience and fatigue resistance under repeated flex cycles in AODD and metering pump applications.
What diameters of PTFE Diaphragms do you manufacture?
We manufacture PTFE Diaphragms from 25mm to 600mm diameter in standard sizes: 25, 40, 50, 63, 75, 80, 100, 125, 150, 200, 250, 300, 350, 400, 500, 600mm. Thickness range: 0.5mm to 10mm. Custom diameters and thicknesses available.
Are PTFE Diaphragms suitable for food and pharmaceutical applications?
Yes. Food Grade PTFE Diaphragms are FDA 21 CFR compliant, CIP and SIP sterilizable, non-toxic, and completely tasteless and odorless — used in food processing, dairy, beverage, and pharmaceutical manufacturing pump and valve diaphragm applications.
